STORMS OF LIFE

I live in Florida. When a hurricane approaches we are warned days in advance. During those days in advance we are told to board up windows and bring in or tie down anything outside our homes. We are told to do this when the winds are calm and peaceful outside. Because if you wait for the last minute to board up when the winds are rolling around some 50 mph+, it will become more difficult for you to board up.

My recent "storms of life" I have discovered, even though it may be more difficult, you can still board up your house in a storm. Naturally it would be simpler to prepare ahead of time. But, when you are blindsided and not prepared, you have to use the means that you have.

God, will make a way for us to be able to board up our "house" even in the midst of our raging storm.

"When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With your other hand save me. Finish what you started in me, God. Your love is eternal—don't quit on me now." Psalm 138:7 - Message Bible

  3. Hi Grace,
And the God of joy and comfort never forsakes us. If the storm catches us off guard and threatens to flood us with fear then He teaches us to "walk on water" with Him.

Hugs and blessings, my friend! May you walk on water with Jesus.

  5. And when our houses are set on the firm foundation of His Word, no storm can prevail.

  7. Brilliant analogy JBR! Better to board up your house during the "storm" than not at all! Hugs to you today!

  8. After a storm shows a weakness in our home, we make the necessary repairs so it is strengthened. I think in my life God has allowed that to happen. Sometimes I have to make do in the midst of it and hide in Him, but then He helps me to be a little stronger for the next "hurricane". Our God is so faithful, and He smiles at you as you allow Him to be your refuge!

  9. What a visual I got with this post of yours (primarily because I have spent many weeks in Florida during "storm season"). You are very correct in what you wrote - and I'm glad I stumbled back onto your blog. I hope to be around more often ...

  10. You know, He teaches us tools....first we learn to use them when it's calm...but really, thats practice (and good practice) for when theres and emergency, because using those same tools in an emergency restores calm then too. And since we've had a few run throughs in the calm times, it's so much easier!

    Thanks for this thoughtful post!

BTW....thanks for your comments on my blog. They arrive in my email inbox alerting me to them, but don't show up on my blog. Weird. Any idea why that might be?
