SUPPORT

"As people, there is something very healthy about finding support from others during difficult times. I needed it for my own healing." - Beth Moore

Early on in my journey I was very hesitant asking for help. Fearing my vulnerability would cause more pain than not. Being laughed at and looked upon as appearing emotionally weak. Having in the back of my mind my father's words to "suck it up."

Grant it I knew enough to seek counseling for help for what I considered "major" issues. But, sharing what "I" thought was not important such as, struggling physically or a slight word from someone which hurt me, I would not not mentioned or bother sharing. Having the hurt fester inside me. Continually believing I deserved it.

As I became more free, I became less resistant in sharing. I needed the "validation" that I am worth listening to and caring about.

I am still a work in progress. Having set-backs which leads to my sensitivity. My 'irrational thinkin' can still hinder me. Having me on a wild chase in my mind and emotions for days. Incapacitating me. Literally. Cannot eat because of worry and doubt, etc. Although I am a bit better, I still struggle in this area. The "irrational fear" grips me hard still.

Agreeing with Beth's statement, it is always good to have the support and validation from others that what I am going through is okay.

  2. Letting out the truth will help free you. Bouncing back from set-backs is also a wonderful thing. Each time makes you stronger. Peace.

Support .... is vital ...Jesus supports me many times when I feel that I cannot stand, he will wrap his loving arms around me, strong as they are and hold me up ...sometimes through prayer, sometimes through His Word, and sometimes through the arms and words of a precious sister or brother in Christ....Support ....is vital!

Hi, I really like your blog a lot. I feel like you are really honest and open. Sometimes I get really sad because I don't think I'll ever be good enough for God due to past sins and addiction. What do you do when you don't feel good enough??

  7. I have struggled with finding ones that I can completely trust but I am so thankful for the ones who know the ugliness behind the masks and loves me despite it. Thank you so much for this encouragement...

  10. Hi JBR:

Boy oh boy... you have my support the whole way! Every time I come over here, I see your strong determination to fight through and claim what is your right... you are God's child, and every single thing he has promised to his kids... us... is yours! I love your gutsy willingness to move ahead. I see Him working in your life every time I come here. Keep going!!!

  11. It is hard to ask for help sometimes. I know what you mean. You don't want to ask because you want to do things on your own, and you don't want anyone to think less of you for asking. We do need each other, though, and sometimes we are able to return the favor and help someone else when they need it.

  12. I believe we are all a work in progress...and asking for help can be difficult sometimes...especially if one deals with self-sufficiency...I know this...I deal with it to this day on some things...so glad our God is so patient...

  13. Hi JBR ~ Having the support of others is vital. Sharing with others, that can support us and just be there for us, is one way that I believe GOD gives us to help us heal. I think GOD gives us blogs and our "bloggy" friends so we can all help each other.
    Blessings...Chelle

  14. I think so often for me I confuse the validation I seek for sinful pride. I also get my mind and emotions tangled for days, also trying to "suck it up."
