Receiving from others whether compliments, gifts, suggestions, has always been hard for me. Though I am improving as I continue to believe I am worthy and of value.
“But [God] gives us more grace.” God gives, we receive. God offers to us, we take. James 4:6
"Why is it so difficult for some of us to receive? Could it be because when we are the givers we remain in control? Learning to give and receive helps us develop into balanced and healthy people. We reduce some of our anxiety when we loosen our grip and gratefully accept the daily gifts God offers us, many through our fellow human beings." - Joyce Meyer
and has now come when the true worshipers will worship
the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the
kind of worshipers the Father seeks." - John 4:23

That's a sweet picture, Grace. I think you got it right when you said it is difficult for some of us to receive because as givers we remain in control. Also accepting help from someone else means you must admit that you need help from others sometimes. At least, that's how it is with me. Sometimes I don't like to admit that I can't do everything on my own. God blesses us with so much when we are willing to accept it, though.
ReplyDeleteI never feel worthy of attention. I love to give yet do I give so people like me? I have had a hard time with this too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very sweet picture!! I love giving the most. And when I do receive, I've taught myself to show huge gratitude by....giving a thank you card! It's a vicious circle. Lol. I usually try not to ask for help unless absolutely necessary because I feel it puts a burden on folks. Still working on that one.
