PAIN DEMANDS TO BE FELT

“That's the thing about pain," Augustus said, and then glanced back at me. "It demands to be felt” ~ John Green

A deep quote. I am not familar with John Green's writings.

So, how would you interpret the statement above? Would be curious to read what any of you have to share. Thank you.

My view.... pain is inevitable and there is no escape. Whether going through the pain the first time or the umpteenth time while healing. Emotionally, physically, mentally, you name the pain.

  1. HI GRACE and lil Grace - yes, pain is meant to be felt and then seen as an awakening' for resolve. There must be a beginning, a middle and an end. Otherwise pain is just pain with no purpose. Use your pain to find resolve and comfort.
    Love Gail
    peace.....

  2. Hi hon,
I am not familiar with John Greene but I say pain screams out and must be heard and acknowledge before it will lessen and eventually go away.

    Blessings,

  3. We must go through the pain, to get over it.

  4. Unfortunately, I've found out the hard way that there is no escaping pain. And if we try not to deal with it, it will seep up to the surface any way it can. So it is always best to try to face it head on. Of course, I don't always do that!

  5. Oh something to think about Grace! I know what I tend to do; pretend it isn't there, that I am stronger than it is. But the pain is real, and I know I have to address it, or I will (never) get beyond it. I know that I shouldn't rush through this season of pain, (even though all I can really think about is ending the pain)! The truth is that I must allow myself to really feel all of the feelings that I am having, rather than just suppressing and denying them. It doesn't make it hurt any less, but I have to allow time to heal; time to allow it to pass.

Great quote and thought this morning!
    Blessings and a lotta love!

  6. Hi Grace,
yes, I would say that in this life pain is inevitable, whatever type it may be. However, there is escape.... in Jesus.
    God bless.

  7. Pain...who likes it? But to me, pain signals there's something wrong that warrants probing to find the source. Pain I believe can be an opportunity to find that deeper healing that drives one to a Redeemer.

  8. Pain is a signal pointing toward areas that need attention. Inner pain signifies that the soul is in deep need of healing. Problem is the "stuff" is in layers and sometimes the physical pain and emotional pain are entwined because we are body, soul, and spirit - and these aspects of our being are intimately connected. So, I walk through one layer only to find more junk underneath :(

Still, there's an end to it somewhere, my friend. And we already know that victory is ours! That pretty cool that we get to know the ending first.

    Hugs to you, Grace!

  9. We can't just try to stuff the feelings that pain brings out or they will fester inside us like poison. We have to bring our feelings out in the open and let God shine Hie healing like on our pain.

  10. Great quote, pain demands to be felt. I know people who live in chronic physical pain and still love for the Lord. Also those who live emotional pain. It a choice here on this earth who is our master and the enemy of our soul loves for us to make anything our master but God.

  11. I take it as pain is the way of life. If we hold in pain we become more of a mess. With the help of our Daddy he brings it to the surface so He can collect them in a bottle.
There are times when I wanted to hold in my pain, but I couldn't.
God is mysterious and wonderful of how he created us to release pain.
