and has now come when the true worshipers will worship
the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the
kind of worshipers the Father seeks." - John 4:23

Rest…… ahhhh something that eludes me at this point in my juncture. Depression continues to wage its ugly head over me. Still, I long not only to rest, and rest in the Lord, but to sleep and to sleep and to be revitalized.

Well, I hibernated most of yesterday, just catching up (even though doctors say you can never catch up) on sleep. See battlefield of MY mind

Was a perfect day to do so, as it rained all day. So, it was one of those under the covers, snuggle up to the pillow days and Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Now for the rest part……. The Word of God says….

Matt 11:28-30 (Amp) Come to me all you who labor (feel fatigue, work hard, toil, be wearied) and are heavy laden (to load up, overburdened w/ ceremony or spiritual anxiety) & overburdened, and I will cause you to rest (I will ease & relieve & refresh your souls) (be exempt, remain, refresh, take ease).

29 Take my yoke (coupling, pair of balances) upon you & learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) & humble (lowly) in heart and you will find rest (relief & ease & refreshment & recreation & blessed quiet) (intermission) for your souls.

30 for My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, pleasant), (easy, better, good, gracious, kind) & my burden (task, service) is light & easy to be borne.

I Peter 5:7-8 (Amp) Casting (fling) the whole of your care (all your anxieties & all your worries, all your concerns, once & for all) on Him for He cares for your affectionately & cares about you watchfully.

  1. Yes, sleep...Hmmmmmmmm. When I hit the pillow, I count down from one hundred, ninety-ni--ZZZZzzzzzz
and that's the way it is. BUT not enuff of it, that's for sure! (Afraid I'll miss something. Really!)

Yet...I feel GREAT. Thank You, God, for the twin gifts of life, and sobriety.
    Steve E.

  2. I have an awful time trying to rest. It seems that anxiety always has me in a throat hold.

  3. I like to "Rest" in Him. Today I teach a SS lesson on "constantly abiding" - remaining in Him. Hope you rest up today!

  4. Indian Lake Papa - How appropriate to have a lesson this morning on Abiding! Thank you for sharing and blessings to your SS class as well.

Anonymous Drifter - Sorry for the anxiety you endure. I do pray one day the strangle hold will be released for you! Thanks for sharing.

Stevie - Yeah, I know you love your sleep. You have mentioned it before. Thanks for sharing your gratfulness to God and your sobriety! Amen!

  5. some nights we are up all night, at times we do not sleep for days at a time. But lately, things have settled down a bit. When I go to bed at night, I ask that everyone settle in, say their prayers and please go to sleep...seems to be working.
    hugs to you, sweetie

  6. Rainbow, so sorry that your sleep is distrubed many a night, but seem to be calming down for you all a bit. Prayer is powerful, and I encourage you all to continue saying them before everyone turns in. Blessings to you dear one and thank you for your comment.

  7. your blog gives us hope that one day we will fnd our way back to God hav to brak down wall first huggies 2 u and thank you

  8. sounds like we have been having the same struggle. i haven't had a good nights sleep in a few weeks now. i'm getting physically sick from it now. it seems nothing works i get a few hours here and there but not what my body needs. even trying to sleep during the day i'm lucky if i get an hour.

for me this time has been so intense spiritually. but i keep reminding myself of the scripture "God gives sleep to those whom he loves" i know that God will provide me with sleep and rest.

    hope your getting some sleep!

  9. Amanda, thank you for the visit. I am sorry that you too are struggling with a lack of sleep. I do pray that you will get the sleep that you so need and be able to "rest" in the Lord. I know you and I share a common bond with the readings and videos, DVDs of Beth Moore which are very encouraging and uplifting. I do like your reminder that God gives us sleep to those whom He loves. God bless dear one and look forward to hearing from you again.

Rainbow, I am glad that you find comfort here. I do hope one day that your heart and emotions are healed and become who God had planned you to be!

You are going in the right direction by searching for Him. He is here dear one. Even though you may not feel Him, He is here, He is here!

  10. Rest is so important. I am so glad to hear that you got some. I remember growing up in Everett Washington and it rained all the time. I loved taking naps and listening to the rain hit the streets. It is so theraputic. Neil T. Anderson has a great book called "Who I am in Christ." It talks about all the names you are, like "I am a child of God" It is awesome. I will keep praying for you and rest. That you will get all of it. Love ya, from Tanya

  11. Tanya, you are too good to me, thank you for your continued prayers.
