TEDDY

UPDATE: I come into work this morning, and there are two more stuffed animals waiting from me.  A pair of bunny rabbits.  A blue and and brown one.  Bigger ones!  Again from my boss!  These I have to take home, as they are a little tooooooo big.

Had an unexpected blessing this morning when I arrived at work.  On my computer sat a stuffed Teddy Bear.  My boss, whom I have shared a lot of my journey with, bought me T.B.  She and I talked last week about how things were going and I briefly shared about never remembering growing up with a Teddy Bear.  This was very sweet of her.  Right now I have him on my computer.  Really do not know what to do with him, but hopefully in time I will.

  3. When I lost my first tooth, my Dad didn't have a job. I would go to Steinbergs with my Mom for groceries and on the top shelves sat these gorgeous big bears. I only had eyes for this one orange one but I knew I would never get it so never dared to ask.
Well the tooth fairy heard my wish and she brought me my bear.
He was my life long friend. If i needed to cry he was there. If I needed to tell some one my problems (in my head) he was there. If I needed a story, he was there to tell me one (of course in my head so I made them up lol) and if I ever had a nightmare, he was there. I kept him for the longest time, sewing him up when he tore, until my husband replaced him. Now he tells me stories lol That bear sure was a good investment.:)

  4. I sleep with mine often. It is very comforting! It may seem silly to some for an old woman to sleep with a teddy bear, but lets just say: my inner child needs him.

    Blessings, andrea

  6. How wonderful.
I recently bought myself (my inner child) a stuffed tiger. I had one as a child, but it met a bad end (I was carsick on it - ugh - it never recovered).
The stuffed tiger is more than a reminder of something I had in the past, I am bestowing upon it all of the essence of my inner child. I keep it safe and clean and take care of it, and try to give it the things I needed as a child.
Some may find this to be a silly idea, but it is bringing me a lot of pleasure and peace.

Hope you find the same in the simple act of receiving this gift.

  9. That is so neat! And so thoughtful of your boss!

I love stuffed animals, always have. There have been times in my (adult) life when I slept with mine, too.

  10. Yes, it was very nice of her. I am not used to people taking such interest.

Thank you to the ones who shared what your stuffed animals mean to you.

  14. I love the thoughtfulness of your boss! Not many companies would even stretch themselves that far to make a small but huge impression on your life.

You know at least she was listening! I like the suggestion that you keep him at work. When things get tough you have him as a reminder that people really do care and it is nice to have when you walk in to start each day!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  16. Aww, that was really sweet of your boss! I have the one from when I was born, it was from my aunt. His nose is missing (dog grabbed it). I have more stuffies now than as a kid I think. I have another bear, a chili pepper, an elephant, and a cow. I got all but the cow as gifts. Take care! *hugs*

  19. Thank you all once again for you support. It is encouraging to read what you share.

It is hard for me to even relate to the bear. As all my life I really had no one or felt I had no one to talk to about my hurts, so I never did, including stuffed animals and just pushed down my feelings and buried them.

  22. Wow! What an amazing boss you have!

I tried to tell my boss what was going on with me, and she told me that I wasn't doing my job well enough and that I shouldn't back out on after school workshops just because I had "appointments" on those days.

    *sigh*

I know what to do with him! Pick him up and take him everywhere you go and squeeze him and pet him and tell him he's wonderful!

My daughter gave me Booker a few years ago. I take him on airplanes, to my T's, on trips to see my daughter, and sometimes to work (but he knows he has to stay belted in the car when I'm at work). It is wonderful to know he waits for me! Love your little Teddy B.! (and hug the person who thot of him)

  24. That was such a thoughtful thing for your boss to do for you. I collect teddy bears. Here is what you can do with it sweetie, love it. Squeeze it, hold on to it tightly, it can be a comfort.

  25. How sweet of your boss. And such a good feeling realising on many levels that people do care about you. Somehow very sweet now we both have gotten our Teddy. Yours can take a lot. How about getting comfort form him and telling him all what bothers you, what hurt you, hold him when you cry and laugh. Hugs

  26. Hug the thing and then the one who gave it you. That's a start on figuring the rest out.

  35. What to do with a teddy bear? You hug him, punch him, snuggle into his fur and swing him around by the ear. He is the recepticle for all love and hurt...never too intrusive, but always there for you 100%.

  36. What a beautiful act of kindness.. and twice..

Beautiful. You are blessed with her..

When people would do things for me I would feel uncomfortable in the past; now I learned to feel grateful and to express thanks.
