GOD CONFIDENCE

I heard a profound statement this morning while listening to Beth Moore. She said, "Stop giving people power over you only God should have. If we are going to be successful in having God confidence we cannot give people power over us!"

She went on to say that we cannot let everyone have access to our confidence. In other words, start to believe what they believe about us negatively. Then run with the belief. Beth also warns us to keep our eyes open to individuals who keep getting to us over and over again. I can think of two people off hand who are like this, one being my mother.

There are some relationships that we need to quit letting them have access to our confidence. Beth states,
"Sometimes we end up breaking free from the loved one instead of just breaking free from our bondage to the loved one." Meaning we do not have to destroy a relationship, just break free from the bondage the attachment to them. HELLO!!

  4. Exactly - it is in YOUR power to give people power over you or NOT. Not easy attained however doable and so very rewarding. I am so proud of all your realization and the way you hang in there. Mill of hugs to you.

  8. This is a human failure that is all too familiar to me. In my relationships with the opposite sex, I have, for most of my life, become immersed in them, living in them, loving in them, all to a point where I no longer exist. Five decades later I am finally free of this pitfall. I have not commented before on the music, but I absolutely adore the music you have on your blog. I can bring up your blog in one window and listen to the music as I work on other things.

Sending you Peace of Heart, ((((BIG HUGS))), and prayers for your wellbeing.

    In Christ,
    Abbey

  11. It's all about changing your expectations. I'm learning to do that now. Just because my mom isn't going to be the mom I want her to be, does not mean everything has to be destroyed. Just different. Perfect picture to go with the post!

  12. Hi. I just found your post while visiting Debra at a day in the life. The beautiful marbled kitty drew me in and as soon as I saw the title God Confidence I had to read. You could have written this just for me. It rings true loud and clear. Why is that people can engage our emotions when it's only God that should really matter. What he thinks of us and tells us is the most important confirmation we could ever receive so what does always seem that I'm searching for approval? What better approval could there be? Why would that not be enough to make me over the moon with confidence and security?

Thank you for this post. I am working on it.

    Hugs...Tracy :)

  14. Great advice, I am always encouraging people to take their power back, and take control of their lives. It seems so hard but once one takes that step it becomes easier.
You don't have to break realtionships, they will change for sure, you just need to establish boundaries......take care my friend,
    .........:-) Hugs

  18. What a freedom that can be, not to be in bondage to the thoughts of others. We call that staying within our hula hoop. Everything outside my hula hoop is God's business. Everything within is my responsibility. What others think of me is not my business. I'm powerless over them. What I think of others is my business, and I have power over my choices today. Good post, JBR

  23. We are taught to believe in Christ, to have faith in God. Though man can and does achieve things in this world aided by self-confidence and a positive self-image, Jesus said to his disciples, "Apart from Me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). In one sense this is absolutely true, since Christ is the Sustainer of the Universe, and upholds all things by His Word. But I believe the main thing He is saying is that apart from an intimate relationship with Him, where you draw on His life, you can do nothing OF TRUE VALUE. Amen!

  24. I had a similar relationship with my mother that a few of you seem to have had. Sadly, I never knew you could break the bondage and not damage the relationship and I always felt powerless. I said sadly because she has now passed away and I never did end on a good note. It has left me with damaged relationships with other people and at the age of nearly 60 still do not have the power to deal with overpowering people. I wish I had known about this years ago.

  25. I so agree with what Enchanted Oak wrote.
We do not have to severe those relationships that have brought harm to us from our past. We are growing til the day we go home to be with our Lord, so the growing pains are real....realizing the truth to not give our power away to someone's thought/opinions about us is another step to healing! lovin it! janie
