SPIRITUAL RETREATS

I did not know if I would be able to make it through work today. I all but got three hours sleep last night. My mind was racing and I am still physically exhausted and aching. Tuesdays are always my busy day at work and also I was part of a group that had to take one of our co-workers out to lunch for her birthday, so I pushed on! Some days are better for me than others. Today is not one of them.

Now I am quickly doing this post then I am crashing for the rest of the evening....

I really would just love to go away for a week. Among Christian women believers and be fed the Word, worship, share, grow, relax 24/7. If there ever was a place like that in my state, a retreat, I would take the time off I Just Do It! I used to do weekend retreats with my church many years ago. They do not do this anymore.

I may just look into the idea.
For right now, good night!

  5. I drove to Michigan (almost 400 miles) for the retreat I went on, last October. It was worth it.
Even if you have to take a plane or train or bus...
    it would be worth it.

  6. JBR, can relate. Having such a racing mind and constantly chain of thoughts going on in my mind I got suggested to try progressive muscle relaxation (you tube)done a few weeks you will realise your mind slows down a tiny whiny bit but even better, there will be gaps between the thoughts, interrupting the chain and giving to time to breathe, relax, sort thoughts and get space for new things and ways of thinking. Besides of that this exercise acting between tension and relaxation teaches you a bit of letting go too. Maybe you give it a try for a few weeks. It helped me tremoundously. It is of great assistance in recovery if we help this very hard emotional and spiritual work with some physical exercises. Hugs to you

  11. Many Christians who use quiet time lead into it with a certain kind of noise: praise or intercessory prayer (prayer that asks for our needs and for the needs of others). Most of us find it easier to be quiet once we take off the weight of our burdens for those we love and lay them before God. But others, especially those of a 'contemplative' approach, find that to be too 'noisy'. The first thing they do is listen to God in silence, and then lead out of it with intercessions. Whatever order you find useful, trust that God will receive your prayers and will speak to you in the silence.

Quiet time is more than just a daily appointment with God. It's more like a visit with your closest friend. It's especially important for those of us who've made our lives in such a way that we'd make God get an appointment to speak to us. Good relationships need the time; they can't live as just another item on the agenda, yet they are lost if time isn't specifically set aside for them.

  13. Hope you had a restful night my friend. I've always joked that Tuesday's are my true Monday's. Sounds like it is that way for you as well. Hope you have an uplifting day!

  15. I miss my retreats with church. I always had to push myself to go, it's so easy to stay home.
I loved every minute of them.

  18. I actually had a dream at one time to build a "retreat center" for assault and abuse survivors to go to and rest and decompress and get support without having to go into a hospital (where you do NOT really get those things). I'm not sure I could ever make that sort of thing happen, but I wish there was such a place.

I hope you find your rest and renewal. (((((JBR)))))

  19. Something is telling me something, this is the 3rd time today the word; retreat has come up for me. I am in a place of much needed refreshment. I know this need and my prayer is that we will both, all of us will find our certain way of getting this need met.

Hoping for you JBR...always hoping for you.
