"You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore."
Psalm 16:11
"God comes to our lonely, anxious hearts and whispers our name. God says "I see both the fear you have of closeness and the deep longing you have to belong. I have come to comfort you and to respond to your need. I have been seeking a relationship with you. You belong. You belong to me. You are my child."

PIT OF PAIN

"I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up out of a horrible pit . . . and set my feet upon a rock." Romans 5:8

As I continue my journey, each new battle and memory I face and go through, every time the Lord pulls me up a little bit more out of the pit. Your pit could be the pit of depression, the pit of the effects from sexual, physical, verbal abuse, pit of lust, pit of despair, on and on.

No one wants to be in the pit of pain. The pit is Satan's sandbox. He does not play nice. He throws sand. He makes fun of me. He lies. He schemes. He takes advantage of my painful memories in the pit.

Through my pit journey into freedom, I cry out to God. My pit of pain can be extremely excruciating emotionally, and I do not need a bully throwing sand in my face.

I cry out to the neighborhood "Good Guy," God to protect and help me out of my pit! There is nothing wrong with doing that. In fact, He wants me to. He knows without His help, I will be defeated in the pit! Each time, I cry out to my God, I become stronger and He pulls me out a little bit more. Each time I learn new grounding tools to defeat the enemy and the enemy in my head.

This is so true. I absolutely love this scripture. God is a refuge for us and He hears and responds to the cries of His children. Nobody knows us like He does. Keep crying out to Him and He will continually deliver you and me. The bible says that in this life we will have tribulations, but God has overcome them all! Stay blessed, and stay real!

In one of Satan's pits is a dangerous situation. It's too easy to make deals with the Devil. The devil is like the worst car salesperson in the world.

Hi there-

if I may. I see pain a bit differently - And Satan has nothing to do with it. I spent years denying my truth and thus my pain - I went togreat lengths to separate myself from myself -almost dieing in the attempt. It was when I faced myself, my truth, embraced the pain I never felt and trusted God tohelp me experience it, feel it, and get beyond it that I was finally in the light, finally free. For me, the pain pit was where my journey began. Just my thoughts.

Love to you
Gail

Pain and suffering makes us stronger in the heart and soul.. like the muscles of the body that grow stronger with use and weak with disuse.

We feel more and are able to love more.

Thanks for the reminder that we need to seek guidance, but also do our part. Great when we can diagnose what we need to do and then set out to do it. We've come a long way!

Great post, great scripture...I worked with a spiritual director for a couple of years when I first moved to WV and it was an amazing process for me to see the pits that I feel in and how God always helped me out again...and I thank you as always deeply for the love and the honesty you bring to the blogs.

I'm looking at that picture that you put and as if I could hear the Lord tell that woman, "Why won't you give me your hand? I want to help you get out from there."

He is able...

One of the most memorable messages I heard preached was one on a man in a pit...several people passed by and offered different words of advice...until the last passer by climbed into the pit and helped the man out...that's what our Saviour does....
