SONS AND DAUGHTERS

This is one of the worship churches I attend.

"Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child]." — Psalm 27:10

I know we all did not grow up with perfect families. A lot of of us were emotionally/physically abandoned. As well as physically, sexually abused, etc. Leaving a deep wound(s) of fear, lack of trust, hate etc. There are a lot of us out there. We encounter many of "us" daily in our travels. Walking right past someone who needs rescuing.

Though many hide their pain with addictions and masks, the ones that are desperate and cry out, we can share God and use our past experiences to help and give them back their self worth through Christ.

Mother Teresa once said that she felt that every person that she met face-to-face she believed that they were Jesus in disguise.

Picture in your own mind, if you conscientiously thought that everyone you met was Jesus in disguise. Mother Teresa realized that God loves each one of us as His Sons and Daughters, personally.

The personal stabs, insults, abuses, etc. in our lives we experience and see happening to others we care about hurts us. Doesn't it? Still, I know some of us struggle with believing that God does not feel or is concerned about our pain when we are mistreated. But He does!

Remember when I said earlier we are His Sons and Daughters. We belong to Him. Yes, I know for some it is hard to comprehend and feel in your heart. I still struggle. But, we are His adopted children. And what we can share with others about His love, we need to and build them up and add value to their lives through Him.

  2. Bless you, JBR. This is exactly what you are doing through your blog - reaching out to those who are in pain and filled with hurt. May our dear Lord reach many hearts that are suffering through your words here.

I read anonymous' words and I was touched by both your post and the affect it had on us. Keep blogging, my friend, keep blogging. We can't always see the immediate effects of our words but we know that God works through us to help others.

  3. You are right; so many of us are in deep pain because of our pasts. When we meet a stranger we have no idea what they have been through.

I remember reading what Mother Teresa said about people being Jesus. It made a deep impression on me. She was a woman of great love and faith. God bless!

  4. JBR this post is great. The Bible says we live out the identity of who we are in Christ. Meditating through Ephesians 1, we see all that we are in Christ.

Learning to live under the control of the Holy Spirit, approaching the hurting world with faith and love from God is vital. God Bless.

  12. I'm having quite the battle right now (and through Christ I'm winning)...Just Be Real. Amen. I love this profile name you have. Your scripture that you have shared, God has been speaking to my spirit for a few weeks. Dealing with 'stuff'. The Holy Spirit keeps reminding me..break the chains, break the chains. I'm not going back to captivity. I'm also learning to deal with the anger, the sorrow and the frustration of the dysfunction, and also seeing it so much in my parents lives. Let go, let go, is what I keep hearing also. Let go and let God. Break the chain of dysfunction in my own life. Though it has been passed onto me, DOES not mean I need to carry it. ((hugs))

  13. Wonderful post, JBR. The part about Mother Teresa believing that everyone she meets is Jesus in disguise hit home for me. Makes me think of Matthew 25:45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."

  16. Yes, we are often tempted to think that He doesn't care, especially when we are so flawed, but the fact is that He does, may the Lord increase our faith.

  19. Another beautiful post! We are blessed knowing that God believes in us even if we don’t believe in ourselves, and even when we are facing some pretty hard things in life. It's our responsibility to share this mighty love and grace of God to others to uplift and encourage them. :)

    Blessings and hugs,
    Denise
