YOUR STORY

"Each one of us has a valuable story to tell. We may be shy and feel awkward about speaking. We may think that what we have to share is too trivial. Is it actually going to help anyone else? We may struggle to get beyond the shame of our past experiences. But our recovery story can help others who are trapped back where we were. Are we willing to allow God to use us to help free others?

Within each personal journey from bondage to freedom is a microcosm of the gospel. When people hear our story, even if it seems trivial, we are offering them the chance to loosen their chains and begin their own recovery.”
(The Life Recovery Bible)

We all have a story a testimony to tell. Your story your testimony is so very special, because it is yours and noone else!

I am certainly NOT the greatest communicator. I hate speaking in public. Dislike immensely speaking about myself. With that being said, I am now going to contradict myself and say since I have started my journey I have become more brave in speaking up, giving my opinion even though still, I continue to fear the possible consequence of someone not liking or rejecting me.

I do have a story to tell and if in anyway someone can benefit from what I have to share I will share it, fearful or not.

I want the pain of shame and lack of self-worth annihilated from my being totally one day where I can be free and just be FREE TO BE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Aw. What a great goal. Most people get where they're going because they picture it in their minds first. I love what you're dreaming. I know it's God's desire for you. If you were in my family, I'd be awfully proud of you.

With me, the shame and lack of self-worth is a work in progress. It is being blasted away a little at a time and over the years, I am FREE TO BE ME more and more.

I know that one day when I am face to face with my creator, it will be 100% annihilated and I will be 100% FREE.

  3. I honestly believe that sharing our story makes us more real to others because it answers the question that as Christians we still struggle. We still face challenges and we still have difficulties in our lives. Thanks for sharing yours with all of us.

You are right! When we follow God, He can work through us to reach and comfort those around us. I am sure you are being that comfort to many people.

  6. Hope, only God knows for sure who we may touch with our words with our actions to comfort. He can truly use us to the max, if we would only let Him. I am talking in my case that is. Thank you dear. :)

  7. W-O-W! What a wonderful message and amazing post! If I can get my head back on straight sometime soon and we have another edition, this would be perfect for The Blog Carnival Against Child Abuse. I need to tack this message up some where so I can see it and be reminded, the next time I feel like pulling my blog down.

Thank you so much for your kind words at my blog when I've been in so much pain lately. Bless you!

  8. Dear one, we are here together. We share, we encourage, we lift up, we feel each others pain. Marj, I am touched that you are blessed by this recent post. It is not of my doing, but of God.

  9. I always try to remember that there is someone out there that will benefit from or need to hear what I am saying or writing. I always benefit from others so I assume the same will be true of me. Wonderful post JBR!

  13. JBR- I don't even believe my own stories, how can I expect anyone else to? But I know it's different with others and I like to listen. Good thinking. ~rick

Here's my take on those who don't agree with me or who don't like me:

Once someone has disagreed with me, they then must (and usually do) take a stand on what they do agree with. I do this, too, when I disagree with someone. I have found that a uniquely designed aspect of being contrary is finding truth and understanding in my own reality of belief - that is a wonderful thing. It' makes me get off the fence, so to speak. So, in a way, when someone disagrees with you it is because they have found a way to their own truth.

As far as not liking me, well, I'm glad when someone realizes he or she does not like me because then I don't have to reject them - they will go away of their own doing. The reality of life is that not everyone will like you. To expect that is to want the impossible. Besides, when everyone likes me, it puts a strain on my social life because there is too great a demand on me! LOL - :D

Hope this lightened your burden a bit. You seem to be a perfectly likable person, I'm glad to see that you are working so diligently on standing up for yourself!
