HOW GOD SEES A SURVIVOR

Not everyone has the same belief system as I do, but....

As I continue on my journey in dealing with an array of issues, I have often wondered "how does God see me as a survivor?"

I continue to learn and try to apply that I am not what my abuse says I am.

Currently suffering of feeling abandoned and rejected. (Hate these roller coaster rides with a passion!) It has been overwhelming these past few days that all I can do is just break down in heaving sobs as my insides ache and I wonder how I can go another day, let alone another minute. But, I do!

Suggested to me in the past was to read ISAIAH 53.

This passage shows how God (as Jesus/as a human) entered into the same pain as many of us of abuse, helplessness, weakness, depression, oppression, rejection, abandonment, shame, guilt, everything. Even though this passage and the Bible itself, never answers the question of “WHY,” it does share how Christ felt our pain nevertheless. Still it can be extremely hard to comprehend that ‘someone’ experienced our pain for us because of His love. Nevertheless, if you are a believer, it is then true and a comfort to know.

  1. What a great read first thing in the morning. Interesting approach to how God sees us in our pain. Agree totally with the scripture backing you up here. God Bless.

  2. This is how I see we should be and live - with the same dignity as how He died on the cross (forgiving others) and after he rose (never looking back at those who crucified him).
    Peace be with you sister.

  8. I LOVE Isaiah 53! I have it highlighted in my Bible [then again, half my bible is highlighted]. He WILL heal you, for He is The Divine Physician. May The Lord's peace be with you.

  10. Isiah 53 does say it doesn't it? What a way to compare the two to ourselves and to the sufferings of Jesus. This post is an inspiration. Hope your spirits are lifted.

  15. You are so loved by the Lord and very precious in His sight. I pray that He will touch and heal you completely and give you all the comfort and strength that you need.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:19
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3
"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." Psalm 68:19
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
"But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

I hope these verses will encourage you. I'll keep you in my prayers. Hugs.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

  17. Isaiah 53;11 After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.
    Especially like the above.

  19. Abandonment--rejection, these are the most terrible consequences of addiction and often belong to the spouse and children (family of) the addict.

The Peeps here are giving strong and sturdy advices, but the work remains (IMHO) your own...with help from your Alanon group(s), a sponsor, and other suffering Peeps. All I can offer you is hope for LOVE and PEACE!

  23. Hey JBR,
Sorry to hear of your pain, but comforting to know that your eyes are always looking up to Jesus. I love that passage in Isaiah too.

Rejection is a real bummer. Don't take any notice of all the accusations your abuse and rejection throws at you, that you are somehow to blame, that you are worthless, that you are incomplete. We even get a habit of joining with rejection and heaping own our self-hatred and insults upon ourselves, and this hurts more.
You are accepted amongst God's beloved and He truly treasures you.

I recall when I was four years old, and a lovely librarian said to me, "What a dear little boy." I could not understand her comment and thought she was stupid or something, as I had been told repeatedly (even at that age) that I was worthless, useless, always naughty, the cause of all the family's problems.

But you know what? She was right and I was wrong. I was special. It took Jesus a long time to show me how special I am to Him, but He got the message through in the end :)

  24. Hi JBR, just stepped out of my son's bedroom. He asked why life sucks. I said life is a rollercoaster ride, good times and bad times. haha he said his is a straight ride all bad.I said if I could go through my life with all those sad times and come out smiling, guess your little problems in school should not be a major hurdle. He said "you are you, you are not me"! I said "you are my son, so if i can do it you can too! eeh now I am reading your post I am seeing the conincidence. We are HIS children, if HE can endure the pain, the abuse, the shame.... why can't we. Bless you.

  25. Isaiah 53:4,5
Surely he took up our infirmities
    and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
    smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

He did it for us, so that we may be healed in every area of lives.
