Was watching Beth Moore this morning on Life Today. She was speaking about the intimacy with God that we could have and describing this in Hebrew as the word “Yada.” Not the ‘yada yada’ we flippantly throw around when describing an on-going conversation or what not. No, this “Yada” pertains to mans existence and to get to know God personally:

Yada’ means: "to know in a relational sense." Yahweh is God’s personal name. It conveys "I Am" and "I Exist." Therefore, Yada Yahweh is an invitation "to know Yahweh" and "to understand our existence." A thorough investigation of the evidence pertaining to man’s existence and to the knowledge of God leads to an inescapable conclusion: the Scripture Yahuweh inspired remains the world’s only rational candidate for divine writ.

Beth went on to say how God searches us out for the sake of intimacy. How He finds us very interesting and intriguing. He already knows what is going on deep inside of us. Still, He continually searches us out. God chases after us. God knows what we are capable of. God will say continually you are more capable than this. It is His goal to come forth and show us the person we can become. "We can do all things through Christ who strengthen us." (Philippians 4:13)

  1. I love this post, Phillipians 4:13 is my life verse.

  2. Awesome...! Longing to have that relationship with GOD makes all the difference in all our relationships.

    Blessings and hugs, andrea

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm so glad you did, because it led me to yours, which is awesome. Will be back to read some more.

  4. I love this post! Thanks for sharing JBR. I love the thought of God chasing me and wanting to really know me.

"It is His Goal to come forth and show us who we are to become,"

It is awesome that God believes so much in what we can become. WOW! Awesome post!

  5. I love Beth Moore's books. Thank you for sharing this with us to remind us that we have a God Who desires relationship with everyone. May many turn to Him more. Blessings to you JBR!

  6. i love that part where He finds us interesting and intriguing, that put a smile on my face

  7. Thank you for visiting my blog. If not for that, I would not have found yours. The first thing I saw was something "inviting", so I came on in and read "Yada". That was very interesting and spoke to my heart. God apparently chased me for a very long time, saving me from one thing after another until one day, he allowed me into a position that I finally called upon Him. He didn't make it easy; He allowed me to suffer before I was saved; then He brought me Home.

He is indescribable. Words cannot express the depth of my love and devotion for Him and the greatness of my faith.

With your permission, I'd love to put your blog on my blogroll.

    Peace, Love and Blessings,

  9. Delightful post and so timely. God showed up in a very personal way during my time with Him this morning..indeed seeking me out for relationship. Overwhelming when I think of who He is and who I am!

  10. Thank you all for your comments. It is neat to read how God is dealing with each one of you differently. As we are all uniquely made. Blessings.

  11. Beth Moore is one of my favorite teachers. "Yada Yahweh"...I like that!

  12. Thank you for sharing this JBR...you are an inspiration!

    Blessings ...

  13. Geez I learn something new every day. Great insight to the meaning of the word Yada! Thanks for sharing JBR.

  14. :)
    big hug!
I am so proud of you and the courage that you are practicing by choice.
    HOOO Ahhh

  15. such an enriching post! thanks so much for sharing! how amazing is it to know that God, the Creator of the Heavens and Earth is curious about US? Wow...

  16. Thank you for the information... I didn't know what yada meant, and it is a wonderful word that doesn't really seem to have a counterpart in modern english that I'm aware of.

There are so many names for God... but whatever we call our higher power, it is all the same face that turns towards us in response. We all are part of the same thing, one giant conglomerate of love.

  17. What wisdom...and boy it speaks to me and where I am. Thank you!

  18. It's amazing how God has so many names streached throughout the O.T. Great post. Ron

  19. That intimacy, so personal. I remember almost 2 years ago lying on the floor, wrapped in a ball asking...begging...please show me how YOU are my FATHER. I needed to know him, more deeply, more REAL. I laid down all of my previous ways of looking for him and set out on a path of just being with HIM as I would a trusted friend. The bond, the relationship, the TRUE essence of it now is beyond anything WORDS could express.

  20. I LOVE Beth Moore. Thanks for sharing!

  21. That's such an amazing thought! Thanks for sharing it

  22. That is my favorite verse-- one I cling to in troubled times. I start a new job tomorrow and you can be sure I will be quoting it all the way there!

  23. Not really familiar with Beth Moore. But the explanation is a darn good one on Yada. Thanks for sharing.

  24. I looove this. Being able to do all things....not living in fear, or shame or messed up, cowering in a corner. Tons of hugs. Sarah

  25. Yes, we can do all things through God who strengthens us. I love being reminded of this great truth. I need His strength today and always.

    Love and prayers,

  26. I love this post, JBR. I never really considered about how God searches us out for intimacy... wonderful revelation! I'm learning so much these days. Thanks, precious one :)

  27. It is His goal to come forth and show us the person we can become.

What a great sentence. Gosh.... thinking that God persues me is so backwards to how I normally think.
