YADA

Was watching Beth Moore this morning on Life Today. She was speaking about the intimacy with God that we could have and describing this in Hebrew as the word “Yada.” Not the ‘yada yada’ we flippantly throw around when describing an on-going conversation or what not. No, this “Yada” pertains to mans existence and to get to know God personally:

Yada’ means: "to know in a relational sense." Yahweh is God’s personal name. It conveys "I Am" and "I Exist." Therefore, Yada Yahweh is an invitation "to know Yahweh" and "to understand our existence." A thorough investigation of the evidence pertaining to man’s existence and to the knowledge of God leads to an inescapable conclusion: the Scripture Yahuweh inspired remains the world’s only rational candidate for divine writ.

Beth went on to say how God searches us out for the sake of intimacy. How He finds us very interesting and intriguing. He already knows what is going on deep inside of us. Still, He continually searches us out. God chases after us. God knows what we are capable of. God will say continually you are more capable than this. It is His goal to come forth and show us the person we can become. "We can do all things through Christ who strengthen us." (Philippians 4:13)

  7. Thank you for visiting my blog. If not for that, I would not have found yours. The first thing I saw was something "inviting", so I came on in and read "Yada". That was very interesting and spoke to my heart. God apparently chased me for a very long time, saving me from one thing after another until one day, he allowed me into a position that I finally called upon Him. He didn't make it easy; He allowed me to suffer before I was saved; then He brought me Home.

He is indescribable. Words cannot express the depth of my love and devotion for Him and the greatness of my faith.

With your permission, I'd love to put your blog on my blogroll.

    Peace, Love and Blessings,
    Abbey

  15. Thank you for the information... I didn't know what yada meant, and it is a wonderful word that doesn't really seem to have a counterpart in modern english that I'm aware of.

There are so many names for God... but whatever we call our higher power, it is all the same face that turns towards us in response. We all are part of the same thing, one giant conglomerate of love.

  18. That intimacy, so personal. I remember almost 2 years ago lying on the floor, wrapped in a ball asking...begging...please show me how YOU are my FATHER. I needed to know him, more deeply, more REAL. I laid down all of my previous ways of looking for him and set out on a path of just being with HIM as I would a trusted friend. The bond, the relationship, the TRUE essence of it now is beyond anything WORDS could express.

What a great sentence. Gosh.... thinking that God persues me is so backwards to how I normally think.
