NEVER FORCED (Healing Emotionally)

Healing emotionally has proven beneficial. Not to say I have completely healed emotionally. No, no, no, no, no. That is certainly not the case. I have plenty to go. Just admitting that I have issues and a desire to be set free is the biggest step to take in healing!!! Many people NEVER even do that much!!!

When healing emotionally, you are forced to look at yourself as well as revisit your past; this can be scary and, many times, uncomfortable. You are forced to see the good and bad within yourself or possibly someone else that may have brought you harm, and even though this is not a pleasant place to explore, the growth and the positive outcome that comes from emotional healing and self-exploration is a gift like no other. When you heal yourself emotionally, you physically begin to feel lighter because you finally have released an idea, belief, or past memory that no longer has served you and you begin to attract what you want in life because your vision is clearer and there is nothing standing in your way.
(Divine Caroline)

Even though the word “forced” is used by the author above in having to look at one’s past, such as I struggle with shame, guilt, abandonment, abuse, criticism, unworthiness, acceptance, etc. issues, God is gentle in leading me through my journey with the guidance of a very good counselor. Not saying that it is not scary, uncomfortable, painful and I tend to give resistance in facing my fears, I am never forced. Basically, in each session the Holy Spirit’s presence shows up and leads accordingly.

  2. I'm working on emotional healing too, and in sobriety and with counseling, it is working. I feel lighter. Holy spirit, shine on us, and set us free.
I should be backing pumpkin pies, but blogging is a lot more fun.

  4. Good post. Many people treat emotion pain by hiding it and going off in other bad directions. You are doing the correct thing by giving your pain to God. That is, when we are hurt, we don’t have to fight back, trying to hurt others as they have hurt us. Trusting in God’s perfect justice to protect us, we can accept all injury quietly, peacefully, and without grumbling or protest. Despite our injuries, we can give understanding, patience, compassion, forbearance, mercy, and forgiveness to those who hurt us, all the while praying that they will repent their wickedness.

  5. When I was in group there were many times I could not face my fears and the violence I endured.. Didn't feel pressure from the others to hurry up and face the pain. Took time. It was a well run group with two good facilitators.

  6. It is so good to meet you. Thank you for becoming a follower of my blog. It thrilled me to see your little photo under my follow button. I'm going to start following your blog also.

I was moved by your post and by how you are going to a counselor to find hope through your past trials when growing up. I too went to a wonderful counselor over 10 years ago and it made such a difference in my life. I was able to overcome some of the baggage I held from my childhood that is similar to yours. We will have to email later and I can tell you more if you'd like. You are going to make it through and out of the oppression you've been under with the Lord's help and your counselor's ear and guidance. The Lord has wonderful and exciting things planned for you and your life. You are taking a great step forward. I pray that I can be an encouragement to you. Thank you for being soooooo real. You have no idea how many others you are freeing because you are being real. God will use what you've been through to help others.

    Have a blessed Thanksgiving,
    Lee Ann

  9. Such a great realization in saying that you are not forced. So many things were forced upon us that have gotten us where we are today. The choice to heal is the one thing we should have the control to do with God's support. So well stated!

  14. ah the hardest thing is to look at yourself and face the situation. but as you've said these are but necessary. may the Lord be praised because I know it's Him who'll guide me through the process which is always for the better.

  16. Manifestation of healing to come into your body or mind, yopu need to put God in remembrance of His Word by speaking His Word. Jesus defeated satan by "It is written." You can defeat him this way, too.

  18. My daughter and I were discussing confidence yesterday. I asked her what she thought was a way someone who felt they had no confidence could have some. She said "Find something you do right and focus on that. It doesn't have to be anything big but perhaps the way you style your hair looks good. So once you think about that, something else you do right might come to mind and before you know it, you'll have confidence."

  19. suggestion? When walking down the line of your past and looking at the things that crop into your memory do it as an outsider with a bit of detachment. Discuss as an outsider with God what it is you are seeing. when you understand the how and why of what happened to someone a step away it is easier to understand how and why you went through this difficulty that has you mired so.

I personally think you have found your freedom from the past but I wonder how willing you are to let go of what was for what is?

  25. I'm glad that you have the freedom to go at your own pace. This is a GOOD thing. And you're right--many people never make this healing journey at all.

  28. Looking at the past can be quite scary, but I agree with you. I was never forced to look at my past. I do believe the Holy Spirit guided me, but it was in therapy that I visited those issues. I had been in theray for seven years before I finally opened up to the pain from my past. My therapists never forced me to talk about it. One therapist has this theory about peeling away an onion, she says that it takes time to get to the middle "stinky" part. So first I had to slowly peal the sorrow on the surface, then I was able to look at the middle part, the inner hurt, which was my past. It really helped a lot. It does make a difference in recovery. I hope you find the light at the end of the tunnel!

Peace of Christ be your my gentle sister in Christ,
    Amanda
