Yesterday when I came home from work and I was looking for something just outside my kitchen, when I hear a plop into my stainless steel sink. Sometimes my dish rag would fall into the sink and make a noise. But this was a different noise. A noise I have heard before that I dread!!! But, I thought to myself.....nah, it is still light out. I said a quick prayer, "Lord please do not let it be what I think it is." Sure enough my curiosity and fear got the best of me and I went in and there it was. A gigantic Palmetto Bug (cockroach) flapping its wings staring right up at me. I could have sworn it was smiling.
After I screamed and returned back into the kitchen, I proceeded to chase that bugger around with bug spray. I cannot step on them. That would totally gross me out and I would have a heart attack hearing the crunch. So I doused that sucker with the spray that eventually does its thing then picked it up in wads and wads of toilet paper and gave it a water burial. I have no clue where this post is going except to share I hate Palmetto Bugs and the incident still bothers me!!!!!!

My brother in Arizona had a cat that would catch palmetto bugs and carry them around like it was a mouse - they are just about as big.
ReplyDeleteI have the shivers just thinking about your bug! Ewwwww!
Yuck....praying for you!
ReplyDeleteSorry for laughing
ReplyDeletebut I can so relate:)

In my very early marriage alone while hubby worked the night shift. I hit one with his big hiking boot. then I picked up the boot to see if I got it. that darn thing ran UP MY ARM! accros my chest down the other arm as I fulng my ars running as I was screaming through our little house. I can laugh now but every time I see on girl I can still feel that dang thing on my arm.
ReplyDeletesomethings ya never forget.:)
I hate them too. Believe when I say I can relate!
ReplyDeletecockroaches are so despicable! i would have done
ReplyDeletejust as you did!
Oh how I don't like cockroaches either!! Don't understand their 'value' at all!!
ReplyDeleteBig Hug to you,
Coreen
P.S. I would have screamed too!!!! Yuck!
JBR I DON'T LIKE THEM EITHER. YUCK AND SUPER YUCK.
ReplyDeleteJBR I'm not a fan of the bug. I lived in a place that was a warm and a whole truck load of roaches was living in the wood beam of the house I was renting. Was a site to see when they all came out at once. God Bless. But God don't bless the roaches.
ReplyDeleteThey are so ugly. Sorry that you had to face the bug but you did it and now it's gone!
ReplyDeleteYou remind me of my son when he was little, taking a shower in my parent's bathroom only to hear a "bloody murder" kind of scream. My oldest brother was ready to karate chop the door. He saw a "cockroach!" Glad you disposed of it!
ReplyDeleteYikes when I lived in Florida one flew over my head hit the T.V and hit me in the face I nearly fainted I know they are smaller then we are but i am so afraid of them ugh....You poor thing....I know it's not easy but hang in there, I pray over bugs al the time as i have spiders and I am afraid of those too...God Bless nice blog Patricia
ReplyDeleteI feel for you, JBR. They are pretty gross :) The smile is for the way you described the incident (lol)!
ReplyDeleteWhen I live in the South, we had to deal with cockroach all the time..They are disgusting, and I'm glad you get rid of them..
ReplyDeleteYou would NOT have liked my previous apartment. When I first moved in there were TONS and TONS of cockroaches, and more of them were coming in through the space between the bottom of the bathtub and the bathroom floor. It was horrifying. I bought every cockroach killing product on the market, and eventually they went away.
ReplyDeleteSo I can feel your pain.
Wishing you well,
NOS
Owww. You were brave! Very very very brave!
ReplyDeleteI didnt know that was the name of cockroaches...sounds better than a roach, for sure. In the tropics those bugs are disgustingly big and...just disgusting
ReplyDeleteguess what? THEY GROSS ME OUT TOO! And I live in Texas, and we have plenty of them! I also chase them with Raid and dump them in the toilet if they come into my house!! Sometimes it's just best to declare war and get it over with!!
ReplyDeleteOh...I am SO with you on this one!! I live in Florida and the warm weather just here just makes those darn things mutate and grow to abnormal sizes! Thankfully, it's been really cool here and I don't see them much in the winter. When it gets cool....they are VERY slow and easily killable! My sympathies!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a cockroach. It's too cold where I live for big bugs of any sort to live. They would make me freak out as well I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteJBR...I hate those bugs as well. I would rather face down a rat than a water bug. I am thankful that I don't have them.
