EMOTIONAL SCARS

"There comes a critical time in each person's life when the truth is accessible. Faced with it, you can either run and hide, denying it, or you can face your truth, accept it, and grow stronger." - Gregory Jantz in Healing the Scars of Emotional Abuse

The above statement holds very true. I chose a few years back to become "serious" in seeking God's help and with counseling. To begin to face the scars of my emotional pain. I sought counseling a couple of times before then......but I was not ready. I was in denial. Cut-off. Disconnected. Not serious. Scared to death!

But, finally about four years ago, I did not want to hide any more. I was at my lowest low and so very depressed. My affect display was like a zombie.

Fear walked in with me many times early on in my counseling sessions. Screaming in my ear "Leave." But I did not. Even in my state of mind, I knew this was too important to run from. And by the Grace of God He orchestrated each session with the right amount of "pain" I could handle.

Yes, I have changed. I have grown stronger. More freer! And expect to come to full fruition one day soon.

  4. I remember my knees turning to jello before and after a session of counseling. As time went by it became easier. I am so thankful for the psychologists I went to about my abuse issues. They saved my life.
