and has now come when the true worshipers will worship
the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the
kind of worshipers the Father seeks." - John 4:23

CLEANING UP AREAS OF HURT

"We are often hard on ourselves. When we fall while trying to walk on crippled legs, we scold. Others may demand that we run when we can barely limp. But God knows the truth, he sees our pain and does not reprimand us. He is the skillful surgeon and his “bedside manner” includes compassion and understanding. He carries us when we cannot walk, he teaches us to use crutches when we get strong enough, and he encourages us until the healing is complete."

Even though my earthly Dad was an absent Dad, he expected a lot from me at times. Bringing over toxic emotional baggage from his upbringing, although not an excuse, spilled over in his mannerisms to his family.

He would become frustrated if I did not catch on quickly to what he thought was an easy problem to figure out. Criticizing me and shaking his head in disappointment. Leaving an everlasting impression of failure in my little heart. Making me try even more to win his heart and be perfect. Only to find out, it was still not enough. Making me beat up my little girl inside when I could not meet "his" or later on in life, others expectations.

But.....

I do not have to be that way any more!

I am slowly accepting my Heavenly Daddy's unconditional love for me. Still a bit hard.

He is nothing like my earthly Dad. God does not judge, shame or criticize. He is an encourager. Knows my limitations. Only has the best for me. He accepts me just as I am. Willing to work with me. Cleaning up areas of hurt and replacing them with His love.

  5. We have to retrain ourselves to not see our Heavenly Father through the filters of our earthly father. Thanks so much for all the encouraging!
