AMPUTATE TO DESTINY

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." - Psalm 147:3

I read somewhere a saying, "You cannot amputate your history from your destiny."

A lot of us would like to get rid of our past. Sever it. The shame, guilt and condemnation it may bear.

It would be so easy for me to go back into denial, wear a mask, pretend everything is alright in my world. But that is not freedom. That is death. Even though I had no control over my past traumas, they are a part of my destiny. A part of my story.

And although you may not be proud of your history, you need it to bring you into your destiny. To be a living testimony to others how the Lord has brought you through by His redeeming blood.

  3. So true, we cannot erase our experiences especially if they have traumatized us in some negative way.
All we can do is work through our hurt emotions, one day at a time.
It's a very slow lifetime process with many regressions......
Diligent receptive prayer is a huge comfort and a real eye-opener....

  5. It took me a long while to realize that denial is not the way to go, but I now realize the magnitude of this lesson. Awareness is the only way we can heal from our past and move forward. Like you said, every experience is a part of our lives - our story - even the unpleasant ones. (((((JBR)))))

  8. A teacher once said to a class that I was in, "You are the sum total of your past." That has stayed with me all these years. It's true your past will always be a part of you, but it doesn't have to prevent you from growing, changing and evolving.
