PLUCKED CHICKEN

"Because we know that no matter what anybody has done to us, God can raise us up and he can make us mighty!" - Beth Moore

Unfortunately Mother's Day for me yesterday was very stressful. Thank goodness we ate first before she let loose her continual fears upon me. Picking me apart like a plucked chicken. Going after once again what "she calls" my "unkempt" appearance, finances, etc. Then questioning my early departure (after only an hour) with.... "We did not have a chance to visit." Visit?? You have got to be kidding.

After leaving in a daze, mentally exhausted and wounded, I am under the conclusion my mum will never change.

Her God is fear.

Even though I felt battered, bruised and even realizing now a bit "rejected" after this recent attack, I am so glad that no matter what anyone does to me, I am acceptable in God's eyes of being raised up and mighty. He will never reject me! Through the emotional pain I see where if I do not give in, and give my mum over to God, I become freer and stronger through Christ! Wo-

  2. Is your Mum a Christian? Next time see if she would be willing to start the visit with a prayer. Hold her hands and pray for a loving visit where there is no juggement. Maybe that will help.
I am so sad your visit was so ugly with her unleashed tongue. It is so sad when some are unable to love instead of correct. Your words hit home because I often use my precious time with my kids to needlessly guide instead of listening and enjoying.
My prayers are with you both. She is no doubt kicking herself for her words today.

JBR this post is very encouraging to say the least. You've come a long way. A couple of years ago you wouldn't of ended your post on such a positive note. God's healing you. You're victorious in him. God Bless.

  4. Thank you all for your comments.

Wanda, thank you for your concern.

Joyful: Yes my mum is a Christian. But she puts fear before the Almighty God. And we know where fear comes from....the enemy.

Ontheway you are so right. I have noticed these past few months how much stronger I have become. Giving God the praise!

  6. I believe your mother cares vey much for you, but she just don't know how to say it right. I am a mother too and I do really care for my daughter, but sometimes we don't speak the same languages and it sometimes it is better to not say anything. But I know she knows that I only want the best for her,but she want to show me that she knows better. Anyway I a very happy for you coz you already found God.

    Father,
I pray that you cover little JBR with your feathers. I pray you hide her in your beautiful love-light this week. I pray for healing in her Spirit.

    In Jesus name,
    Tammy

  10. I'm sorry your visit was so stressful but you handled it well! Sometimes, as you say, we can only hand people over to God.

I've noticed the tremendous changes in your posts over the past year and especially since you lost your job. God took something that seemed awful on the surface and turned it into something good! Your writing has changed a lot and it is obvious that the hand of God is on you.

May He continue to bless you immensely, my friend!

Funny picture :) It's hard when people pick others apart but you are right about being acceptable in God's eyes. And his opinion is the one that matters!

    Hugs!

  11. Great way to see the positive in spite of what is happening around you. I had to remind my mother to say thank you before adding on what else I should have done :)

'M SORRY YOUR MOTHER'S WORDS SOURED YOUR VISIT. HER LOSS. WORDS CAN HURT MUCH MORE THAN THE OLD NURSERY RHYME STICKS AND STONES. THEY MAY NOT BREAK BONES BUT THE CAN SURELY BREAK LITTLE HEARTS. DON'T THINK YOUR MOTHER HAS ANY IDEA HOW HER WORDS WOUND. THE DAMAGING AFFECT IT HAD ON YOU THROUGHOUT THE YEARS GROWING UP MUST OF BEEN TERRIBLE FOR YOU. I CRINGE AT THE THOUGHT OF THE CONSTANT CONTROLLING AND DISAPPROVAL. YOU'VE COME SO FAR ALONG IN YOUR JOURNEY TO SURVIVE THIS GROWING UP AND STILL HAVING TO DEAL WITH IT. GOD'S MADE YOU STRONG REMEMBER THAT.

  16. Christ uses our weakness as a platform for his strength. Bringing glory to God in the midst of difficulty is a wonderful thing!

  17. Remember that you are a Child of the King! An old song says, "His royal blood now flows in my veins . . . Praise God, I'm a child of the King."

  18. I am so sorry. Doesn't she see what she is doing to you? How does she spend her day, does she just sit around thinking of ways to put you down? ((HUGS)) This is no way for you and her to live. Life is short, you should be having fun together.

  19. I am sorry that you had a stressful mothers day. After being tired for a whole week due to asthma attacks, I had a relaxed mother's day as my daughter took charge of the dinner.

  22. Your mum sounds like a hurting woman who is not even aware of how she is hurting you. God's Word is so true of who we really are; no human can touch us.

  25. JBR,
I am so sorry that you will probably never get from your mom, what you want and so deserve. Yes, our God is a loving God and loves you regardless so keep that in your mind and let go of the person you wish your mom to be.
