I AM WHOM I AM

I have been having a few rough days with my mum and her attempts to control, shame and place guilt on me.

The following quote and the quote above in the picture speaks to my heart today. Maybe yours too.

"You will learn not to be moved by what people say because the purpose of the Lord in your life will be done anyway. Be moved only by His Word and Voice. Who's voice are you listening to?

  1. Thank you for your visit. I have been having some rough days with my mom too but in a different way. I pray that His will will be done in this situation. One wonders why some have a loving relationship with their parent while others have a constant battle.
I am glad to know that He is in control and He will bring good out of it. The Joy of the Lord is my Strength! Be blessed today and thank you for your post.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

    1. I am trying the "respond" method. I do not promise I will do this for all my posts, as I have a lot of followers and it would be too time-consuming. Thank you for your visit and comment or encouragement Sandi. Blessings.

Sometimes we just need to reflect on nice things. When we are weak He is strong, and well able to bring us peace in whatever way He chooses.
God bing you peace and comfort in this situation.

  6. Why do you allow your Mom to have this control over how you feel about yourself? No one can do this to us unless we allow them to do it.

Of course, I do understand that the control and influence of our parents tends to always be there.

I hope you have a great weekend.

  7. I know just how hard it is when someone you love and has such a big part of who you are hurts you with words. It is hard to ignore the hurt and the response that comes. When this happens to me I do my best to just focus on God and how He feels about me. God loves you so very much and He sees the amazing person you are. Focus on that, the more you look at Jesus the easier it will be for you to not become so hurt.

  11. Good afternoon JBR! I wanted to respond to the last post, but you beat me to it with another post! Ha! You might recall reading on my blog that I have issues with my mother also. To keep myself from going completely off my nut, I've had to put distance, figuratively and literally, between myself and my mother. I've always had this terrible guilt because the way I feel about my mother is not exactly honoring her, as we are commanded to do. I've concluded that I can be a dutiful daughter; she'll always have her needs met, but I will not allow her to use me as a doormat any longer. For instance, the last time I made the ten hour round trip to visit her, I scarcely got in the door when she left to go play bingo. Ouch! Now I don't make the trip any longer, a weekly phone call will suffice, and the last time I called she pretended to be losing her voice so she couldn't talk. She was mad at me for not calling at 11 on the dot as I usually do. Really it's all I can tolerate of her at the moment. So you see, you're not the only one with less-than-wonderful mother. Isn't Mother's Day the most depressing day of the year, when you read all those wonderful tributes that everyone writes about their loving mothers? Anyway, for years I tried to figure out why she acted the way she did. But I'm tired of making excuses for her bad behavior. What I've concluded is that the devil puts obstacles in our path, even ones in the form of a cold, cantankerous mother! So now I look at it as just another challenge to prove myself to Him, by being civil to her. Sorry about the long-winded comment! Keep your chin up kiddo!
