YOUR PAST CAN HEAL

“Those who have hurt you in the past cannot continue to hurt you now unless you hold on to the pain through resentment.”
― Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I Here for?

Healing of the wounds others have done to us in the past and even in the present is all about our recovery to victory.

I know without a doubt we all can relate.

I certainly did not like what I went through growing up.

I would of rathered that my parents loved one another, not fight and use nasty terms against one another and then end up divorcing when I was eleven. Forcing our family to split and me to move away with my mum who remarried soon there after.

I would of surely rathered not my older brother experiment on me sexually for his own pleasure when I knew no better at such a young age. Bringing on confusement and extreme fear.

I would of rathered that my earthly father had not ignore me and made me feel like I was a burden to him.

I would of rather forget the poor sick relationships both sexually and emotionally that I engaged in later on because of my emotional pain. I could go on and on.

But, I know "they" cannot hurt me any longer. Because the more I heal and the more I know who I am in Christ and that I am forgiven and that I forgive myself. Sure, unfortunately satan will dig up stuff that I thought was under the bridge. But, I am quicker to counteract his lies with the Word of God and His truth!

I hope this was some of an encouragement to any of you out there.

Hugs.

  1. JBR your honesty ceases to amaze me. You've no idea how you touch the hearts of people that are hurting by your own testimony. This post reminded me of how much our God loves us and no matter what we've gone through or going through his love never ceases. Thanks for being the real you. I'm begining to see more and more the title of your blog's meaning. God Bless.

  2. Hi JBR,
Yes, this world is full of hurts and bad memories, there is one thing in particular that I would not be able to forgive myself for if my beautiful Lord had not said two thousand years ago 'forgive them Father for they know not what they do'. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and so are you. God wants for all men to come to repentance and receive forgiveness in Jesus.

  10. JBR,

Yes it is indeed an encouragement because no doubt everyone has scares some deeper than others, but as you well point out the power of our healing is in Jesus Christ. For us, there is no greater defense to ward off Satan’s attacks than that of God’s word and know that a day is coming when the Lord will remove all of our scares forever, and I believe that day is coming soon!

I invite you and those who read this comment to visit my blog site at Thought of the Week Devotion. This weeks devotion is titled, ”Remembering 9/11”.

    Blessings!

  15. our past have many valuable lessons. one's we can choose to learn from. i'm sure we'd all much rather not have them, but life's no fairy tale, so it's up to us to make the better of that which is handed to us. hugs and love!

  16. Hi JBR. I love reading your posts. I find so much encouragement in them. It is so important to let people know what our Lord is doing. Scripture tells us to do this. I am thinking about starting a blog and being real about God's healing for me. Faith comes through hearing. You are certainly strengthening people's faith.

  17. God uses it all for good...Today I am choosing thankfulness...all that we have been through brought us right we are, at His feet and in His presence receiving His healing. So grateful for that! We are becoming stronger!
