REFUSE and DEFUSE

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus
the author and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy set before him
endured the cross, scorning the shame.
Hebrews 12:2

For many of us shame got to us in our childhoods. Through abuse, abandonment, critical words, perfectionism, neglect or some kind of massive trauma. Even if we were not nurtured properly by our parents, shame had a way of creeping in. Crippling us.

I am still in the process of healing from shame and past hurts. It is a process. A process that will take time. Not always easy to work through.

There is a constant battle for me to refuse and defuse the lies the enemy places in my head about my self worth and value. That is if I remember before I go off thinking and confessing just how bad I am and that I am not worthy enough to accomplish something.

With God, if I can catch the lie before it escalates (which it can escalate in no time), then I have a better than half a chance of nipping that particular attack in the bud. Takes practice and determination to redirect that train onto a more safer track though.

  2. My neck got injured in 1997. And I'm glad He brought me to correctional nursing. The pain had subsided. But being chronic, still comes on and off, except this time, the intensity is not that bad.

Just like when we go through painful emotional/other physical traumas, definitely, it takes a long time for it to heal. It still paralyzes us at times. But when we are reminded of His presence now in our lives and the transformation and renewal of everything because of what Jesus did on the cross, then all these things are now healed as they were nailed on the cross thousands of years ago.

Yes, the battle is constant and I'm thankful that He makes His weapons readily available. To God be the glory! And you, JBR....you're not alone in this battle...God bless.

  4. Yes, it is a major battles most Christians face I believe... believing the lies of the enemy whispered into our hearts and soul at a young age.

It can only be the Word of God, through the Holy Spirit, to untangle and correct our thinking and believing of these things. It definitely takes time.

God bless you on your journey JBR.

  10. Hi my sister in Christ,

I have missed you. I was away from the blogging world for a while. First, let me give you a hug (((J.B.R.))). Next, let me tell you that your blog is my favorite on here. Finally, you made me realize that what we call "old tapes" in therapy were recorded by the evil one. I got that the old tapes were from childhood holding me back now, playing in my head, people telling me how I wasn't good enough or pretty enough. I just never got that the one holding the tape player recording playing this stuff and playing it back for me was Lucifer himself. Thanks for showing me that so I know there is another way to fight this. Prayer! Thanks girlie.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Amanda
