GOOD OUTCOME

Well, I had the opportunity to apologize to my long lost friend tonight. Below is some of the dialog:

JBR: Hey Friend! Thanks for accepting my friends request. Good to see you on Facebook! My how time has flown. You look good!

Long Lost Friend ("LLF"): I know...like 20 years has gone by. Are you still in SFL?

JBR: ‎22 years in fact. Yes still in S.Fla. Still attending CRPC and others. You've been on my mind for the longest time. Sorry how things ended. Blessings.

LLF: Oh my friend...do not be...I went to Atlanta 'lost' and now am found again. I only have happy memories of you and I learning to sign and more.. you helped me grow and explore. I think of you often specifically recently when Davy Jones died. Your Mom?? I am back in VA with my Mom, sister and family...still no husband but that's OK too. I am a JW which I think we talked about.

JBR:Well, I was so messed up back then emotionally. Back then was NOT "the real me." A lot has changed over the years. A lot of baggage from my past has been cleared up. I am more Real than ever!

LLF: We were both messed up but looking for a relationship with God...lordy we could have been doing worse

A friend of mine from CRPC at that time just posted on FB that she and husband went on first date today 24 years ago. I have nothing but fond memories from FL

Then we went on to private messaging for another two hours catching up. Sad what you learn about a person that you have not been in contact with for over 20 years.

  1. JBR, that is fantastic that you were able to reconnect. I know from friends that I've connected with in chich things ended badly, all we could do was apologize for the hurt our actions/words may have caused and move forward...life is too short! I'm proud of you for reaching out...

  3. I am glad you were able to talk and relieve some burden by apologizing. If I understand correctly, I am sorry she is not walking with Jesus...I hope I have misunderstood...

  4. Thank you all for your comments.

BB: She became a Jehova Witness. We talked a bit about that. I can see where she is confused. Especially with the resurrection part. Questioning "If when you die you go to heaven or hell, what is the resurrection about?" She struggles with the Trinity as well. I asked her point blank what she believed. Her response: "JW believe that Jesus is God's Son and King but not equal to God. And Holy Spirit is God's active force but not that God, Son and Holy Spirit are equal."

  6. I thought that's what you meant. I am so glad you were able to talk with her. Your life will be a living testimony to her. I know in the few cases where someone I know has coverted to that it was out of a great need for sense of fitting in and family. Don't know if that may fit here...just trusting God brought you here "for such a time as this". God bless you JBR!

  7. Amazing! So glad that you were able to reconnect with her on a positive note. I'm sorry to hear that there are some sad things that have occurred in her life since you last saw her. I'm sure it meant a lot to her that you reached out to her.

  9. I'm so glad that you reconnected with your friend and that you were able to rekindle a bit of your relationship.

I thought that JW referred to Jehovah's Witness and am glad to read I was right! I grew up in that religion and most of my family is still a part of it. There are a lot of differences between that and other religions, and can understand her questions. My friends have asked me similar ones when I was growing up.

    Blessings

  10. JBR an answer to prayer. It's amazing how time does heal in many cases. Her words were sincere that what ever transpired between you two didn't matter any more. God is good. Did you see where she mentioned that you helped her to grow? I bet that was a surprise. You never know what you do in an individual's life. God Bless.
