BENEFITS OF BROKENNESS

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24

The word brokenness can produce fear in people's lives. Sensing "pain" is on the horizon!

But, brokenness can be a blessing. Naturally it may not feel like such a blessing as you venture through your painful past. As survivors of our childhood traumas, brokenness becomes necessary if we want the Freedom it offers. Hallelujah!

The painful traumas of any kind of abuse we went through, was life changing. In order for us to survive we tried blocking the pain from our minds, stuffing our emotions, cutting, disassociating, turning to addictions to numb the pain. Unfortunately by doing so we were shaped into individuals God did not intend for us to become. Fear, hate, anger, shame, guilt, and unworthiness plagued our everyday existence.

God cannot do a total hauling of your life until you are seriously ready for Him to perform emotional surgery. I became seriously ready close to four years ago. (You can read some of my old posts. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to find a few) With that He can then begin to reshape you.

Unlike clay in the potters hand that feels no pain, we are flesh and blood and I will not lie, it will hurt!

Oh My Goodness will it ever hurt at times! The knife is very sharp and cuts really deep!!! Unfortunately there is no anesthesia. You have to be awake during this operation. But, it will only be an operation you have to go through "one time."

God loves you. He longs to repair you. Fix your broken pieces. Desiring for you to become the real you were intended to be.

Even though I continue to die and die a little more each day, I know that my final outcome will be freedom! I believe I have at least one foot in now!

Then having a desire, well in my case that is, to encourage any other hurting people that "they can make it to freedom" as well! Weeeeeee!

  1. I could talk on this topic I have been broken to the point I did not even know if I could be fix but what I learned and saw that God was using me for His glory and He had to get rid of allot of things that He did not want me to have...He stripped me of my pride, how I view things, my attitude..in the beginning of 2011 God gave me this verse in Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. little did I know what treat of a change I was in for..that was a year ago and to this day my heart has become like flesh..When 2012 came in He didn't change my verse now everything I see and do I can see why I had to have a new spirit everything makes sense to me now!

  3. Grace,
This is a fantastic post!! I liked the Scripture verse you chose for it too. It's very fittig for the post. We DO die a little more and more each day to ourselves, but the good news is that it frees us to live in him. Thanks for these powerful words of wisdom, my friend :)

I'd +1 you for this post for sure if you had it enabled on your blog ;) God bless!

  5. I never understood the concept of God healing me when I'm broken until I got involved in a spiritual battle. How can He fill my heart with the things that come from Him when I approach Him with a full heart? I didn't know at that time, He doesn't desire that. It is only through our brokenness that His redemption works! Thanks for this JBR! May you have a great day, remaining strong in the Lord's mighty power!

  7. "I desire nothing on earth besides you," it says in Psalm 73:25
Brokenness leads us to this, I think. When we realize He is everything and the world has nothing more for us, we value Him more.

  12. I have not visited your site for over a year..maybe more??
Once again dear Sister, we seem to be in the same place where our healing is concerned. I see such growth that has taken place in you, but such healing which growth can not take place without the healing! I have this visual right now of you and me holding hands, facing each other and jumping up and down rejoicing over God's mercy and grace!
    You know I love you....Janie
