ME AND MY BUDGIE

The other day, the Holy Spirit impressed it upon my heart to look through some old pictures of myself with past parakeets I owned. The one I share here I had no idea I had. I remember seeing a few other pictures of me with a parakeet when I was in my late teens.

Although, I have seen this picture before, it is not until now I realized there was a parakeet in the picutre. The quality of the picture is not the greatest. So, I over looked the little green parakeet on my finger. Until now. This is the youngest picture I have of myself with a parakeet. I will say I am about 8 or 9.

Another name, which is the official name of a parakeet is Budgerigar or Budgie. Originating from Australia.

I share all this, as I am still processing what was discussed and discovered in therapy last Thursday. How I have always had a budgie in my life up to this day. And my therapist brought to mind, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, that God was in my little friends while I was going through the most traumatic things in my life. Comforting me.

I think since I never really had a stuffed Teddy Bear to hug growing up, My Heavenly Daddy gave me a "live" budgie to cry to, talk with as I shared my pain.

  2. The picture is precious! God does give is comfort through our little friends, as a blessing of love. Even though they may not understand us, we still feel like they are listening. I had a beanie baby, a little teddy bear cat, I called Melissa. She was my best friend. I had her since first grade and still have her all messed up. I can't seem to throw her away. She helped me when I was afraid at night and the loneliness I endured of friendship. We may never be content until we see our Daddy's beautiful face. Blessings and hugs JBR <3

  3. God is good to give you a small picture of His love and care in the form of little birds. As I commented on your last post, I am feeding a little flock of goldfinches out my sunroom window. Whenever I see indications in nature of God's infinite care and beautiful creativity I stand in awe of Him. So glad you're back.

  12. What a sweet pic of you as a child...I am sure that going through old pics can be challenging. I love how God paces us on this journey and knows just the right time to bring us the next piece of the puzzle. I especially love how He is able to reveal to us that He was always there with us even in situations we could never understand. Many blessings Grace! Shana

  14. It always a blessing to go back and see photos of when we was small kids. I know I remember all those times me and my sister would play out doors. Those are precious memories and no one can steal them from us.

  15. I agree with you about birds. I loved birds as a little child. Later in life, they would be a reminder of God's love and protection for me.

    What a cute picture.

  16. I love the picture, Grace! The wonderful thing about animals is that we are free to love them unconditionally and without emotional barriers. At least, it seems this way to me. Plus, we can be completely ourselves around them - not a small thing for many of us.

    Hugs and prayers!

  19. Hi JBR,
I agree absolutely that this was Gods way of comforting you. I have been talking with friends recently about this and when I went to visit an elderly lady recently who is a widow and has no children or relatives, she told me that she had been sat on a bench in the garden thinking about her late husband of sixty years and the times they spent together. She told me that she started to cry. Suddenly a collared dove came and landed on the bench next to her and jumped onto her lap. I know this was God comforting her, and I believe she does too.
